Jeju Basalt is a dessert café unlike any other. I stumbled upon it on my second day in Jeju, and it really felt more like a mini museum than a café at first. Their whole concept is built around Jeju’s iconic basalt stones—from the ingredients they source to the design and shapes of their pastries and cakes. Pretty cool and thoughtful. They gave out free samples of their chocolates (which were really good), and I ordered a latte which was solid. The place has limited seating though, so it’s not ideal if you’re looking to stay long or settle in with a laptop. One thing to note: only one of the staff could speak English comfortably, so communicating might be a bit of a challenge—but nothing major. Overall, it’s a unique spot worth a visit if you’re into concept cafés and local inspiration.

This place is more known for the bakery than for the cafe & drinks, but both were superb! The mandarin sweet orange latte really tastes like orange, and the “yellow” fruit drink looks like infused water but tastes more like juice. If you mention it’s your first time, they give you samples and a tablet to look through a short slideshow about the bakery items. Friendly staff. It’s in the middle of what looks like a typical Korean residential area though so prepare to walk or for your taxi to be very slow in a practically one-lane road.

This is a hidden gem! Their bread and pastries are so delicious. The stone bread have a chocolatey exterior and with various flavors inside. My favorite are the mango, green tea, and strawberry. I bought 5 boxes. Their black sesame latte is also really good. I would highly recommend coming here. Can't wait to come back again.

Basalt specializes in desserts and beverages that are based on Jeju Island. The desserts are great for gifts and resemble the Jeju basalt, hence the name of the store. Every guest is served with samples of desserts and drip coffee upon visit, and the atmosphere is luxurious and comfortable. Two slots of free parking is available in front of the store.

During my trip to Jeju Island, I tried basalt rock-shaped bread, and it was both sweet and delicious. I even had the chance to sample it before buying, which made the experience even better. The drinks there were also fantastic and paired perfectly with the bread. The packaging was neat and well-prepared, making it a perfect souvenir to bring back home.
